About the Department
The Department comprises the Centre for Inflammatory Disease and the Centre for Haematology. The Department provides an outstanding research environment where scientists from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds work together to advance understanding of mechanisms and causes of malignant and non-malignant blood diseases and chronic inflammatory conditions and to develop new translational approaches. It has a multidisciplinary approach and hosts excellent experimental programmes in basic and applied life sciences as well as clinical research.
About the Role
You will join the haemato-oncology group within the Centre for Haematology and will contribute to the academic mission of Imperial College London to deliver world-class research, education and scholarship. In addition, you will also be required to contribute to administration within the Department. All members of clinical academic staff are expected to be active and highly respected in clinical practice, in research, publishing papers in leading journals, attending conferences, supervising research students and obtaining funding to support their students and research activities. Teaching and research are considered an integral part of the post. The post will involve the usual administrative duties associated with a busy academic and research-active environment and you will be expected to enhance the academic standing of the Department of Immunology and Inflammation.
Key Responsibilities
You will contribute to the academic aims of the Department by:
  • Planning and directing relevant basic and translational science research programmes.
  • Planning and leading innovative, interdisciplinary research.
  • Successfully attracting funds for research initiatives.
  • Extending and interlinking the research strengths already existing within Imperial College across the Faculties in your field of research.
  • Participating in the planning, design and execution of teaching including postgraduate teaching and research supervision and undergraduate teaching.
  • Participating in postgraduate training and courses for junior and senior doctors in training.

Essential Requirements
  • Full GMC (General Medical Council) registration.
  • CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in the appropriate area.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee.
  • Further Higher Degree – MD, PhD or equivalent in a relevant area.
  • A national and/or international reputation in the field of  haemato-oncology or related field (commensurate with career stage).
  • A track record in attracting research funding.
