THIS Institute invites research leaders at UK universities to apply for funding for PhD fellowships to select and train high-calibre students in the area of improvement in healthcare quality and safety. APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED.

About the PhD Fellowships
Funding is available for three year (PhD) or four year (Masters + PhD) programmes. Supervisors at UK universities should propose projects that will help to build the evidence base for improving quality and safety in the UK health system. Successful universities will be responsible for their own recruitment and may appoint clinical or non-clinical fellows.
Selection Criteria
Applications are welcome that:- 1. Are relevant and can be applied to improving quality and/or safety in the NHS, as well as supporting disciplines already active in this area (such as health services research, law, epidemiology, data science and social science), we are looking for fresh thinking and contributions from fields beyond healthcare. 2. Demonstrate a strong approach to equality, diversity and inclusion at the host department/unit, particularly in relation to the selection and support of doctoral students. 3. Show that the university can provide a high quality environment for building research capacity, with excellent supervision in place to support doctoral students.
