About the PhD FellowshipsFunding is available for three year (PhD) or four year (Masters + PhD) programmes. Supervisors at UK universities should propose projects that will help to build the evidence base for improving quality and safety in the UK health system. Successful universities will be responsible for their own recruitment and may appoint clinical or non-clinical fellows.

Selection CriteriaApplications are welcome that:- 1. Are relevant and can be applied to improving quality and/or safety in the NHS, as well as supporting disciplines already active in this area (such as health services research, law, epidemiology, data science and social science), we are looking for fresh thinking and contributions from fields beyond healthcare. 2. Demonstrate a strong approach to equality, diversity and inclusion at the host department/unit, particularly in relation to the selection and support of doctoral students. 3. Show that the university can provide a high quality environment for building research capacity, with excellent supervision in place to support doctoral students.
