Era-defining events in 2020 – namely the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on Black and Brown people, the tragic killing of George Floyd and worldwide resistance led by the Black Lives Matter movement – have placed anti-Black racism and White privilege firmly on the public agenda.
This eagerly awaited successor to the ground-breaking Inside the Ivory Tower immediately resonated with me, by way of the writer of the foreword: Professor of Criminology and Sociology, William “Lez” Henry.
As the second edited collection in our Ivory Tower series Transforming the Ivory Tower is published today, we congratulate our Patron Shirley Thompson on her long overdue Professorship. She is now Professor of Music at the University of Westminster.
